Twostrokeking Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 I have a question about predrilling. Say I am going to pre drill holes for the top of a box and for the side. How do you guys hold those pieces together while you drill the holes so they match up perfect? And tips? Wicks Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 If you're using MDF and are clamping, you don't really need screws. The glue is stronger. But...if so...90 degree clamps or squares. At lowes or depot by the other clamps. Soccerballzs Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 I use staples to hold together with glue on MDF. Screws if you know how to predrill and use the right screws are great also. Use a tapered bit for predrilling. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/
TRON Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 Another little tip if you're pre-drilling before you glue: Take a file over the exit holes. If you pre-drill then take apart the two pieces you'll probably have some flakiness. Get rid of it and it will help the two pieces come together flush. Use a tapered bit for predrilling. I agree..I apply the glue first then I use 1 1/4 brad nails to tack them in place then I predrill, then I countersunk, then I screw the screws in...I know it's alot of work but it works for me tho...also I have 3 drills with the bits to do the above steps...
