TRON Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Do they dim when the engine is idling or when your driving and the rpm is higher, like 1700? Avalanche Alpine Type S comps Alpine Type S 10'' Alpine MPR-F300 Alpine MRX-M50 Mechamn 270 XS Power d3400s
Jessica Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 pretty much any change in voltage is going to cause headlight dimming, I'm going to get a regulated DC to DC power supply to run my headlights. Most of them take 8 to 18v in and give you a 12v out. Finding one that can do it at 15 amps is the trick. DubNDodge Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 To reiterate what duck just said, you will notice dimming with the slightest of voltage drop, even 0.1v. If that annoys you convert to hid headlights, DC ->DC power supply (to keep the voltage going to the headlights the same) or who knows what other options are out there now. I chose HIDs and changed all my interior lighting to LEDs. Bump4life Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 if you switvch to HID the dimming should stop sincd there are caps in the ballast. if at any time you are pulling more current than your alt can produce, your lights will dim. sounds like you are clipping and drawing a lot of current. but if your voltage is dropping for any reason your lights will dim/ Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. reedal Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 You can get a second AGM to hold the voltage higher decreasing the drop. Not really necessary for that setup but if you're looking to get rid of the dimming, ditch the cap and get another AGM to wire the amp to in the back SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
