Hotdog
Do a 1/4" round over on your port entrance and exit. Do a 1/4" Round over on the inside of the sub opening. Sand down all the round overs smooth Try duck tape in different locations. There is a thread on here on how to get louder. Krakin
That thread. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/98191-spl-gains-updates-page-30-routing-the-port/page-4 Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. GassenD
Have you tried any with your seats or consoles? I noticed if I have my driver seat all the way forward and i'm hugging the steering wheel while my passenger seat is leaned all the way forward also I gained about a half a dee bee.. hispls
If you don't own or have access to an SPL meter you're pissing into the wind. Once you have a meter you can very likely find half a dB just moving the box a little, moving seats, glove box position, vents, visor, etc. etc. Duct tape can gain you a little bit as can having someone hold or pump panels on the outside when you're running. Merely hunching over to the side can gain a tenth. Beyond that, if you built a half dozen boxes you could optimize box size, sub and port position and position of box in the vehicle. This, but go with the largest roundover you can find...probably .75" without spending an arm and a leg if you use a router. If you did a larger PVC roundover on the top edge, the one right in front of you in the picture you posted, that's been known for big gains as well. But, access to a meter is going to be vital for checking any of this. Don't go trying a bunch of stuff at once and then meter at a comp, you'll never know what worked and what didn't.
