meade916
Guess I learned my lesson and it's time to shop for a new battery i had one in my ISF swell up on me....turns out it is about 4" from the headers (my v8 is stuffed into my hood). I replaced the battery and got a heat shield for it. Never did it again. My stock battery had a metal case on it...hmmm i am guessing that was important. the only other reason an XS power battery (or any brand) should swell would be it was overcharged. I left the power supply (NOT CHARGER) but straight up power supply on the Tahoe all night long a few years ago when it was in the Palms Casino for CES with Rockford. I didn't mean to leave it on, i just forgot. The batteries were very hot the next morning when i arrived and one was starting to swell. so in my experience, it has happened twice. Both my fault. Sometimes, it just isn't the products fault and you just have to eat it. Sometimes it is. But i don't know about your situation i just know what i have personally been through. 1 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Miguels
OP you must have overcharged your battery for a long time. high 14 is no bueno.. this is the reason i set my voltage regulator at 14.4 then to 13.8 when the alt has warmed up Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

meade916
Im running S3400 under the hood under my tahoe no issues. but they are towards the front more. the D3100 under the hood of my Tahoe has never swelled...but it isn't near heat. Well the radiator hose is touching it on the top corner. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! rockFord_Expedition
My 03 expedition (same under the hood layout as Breezy's Navigator) leaves no room for a heat shield of any kind, and here in southern AZ it gets hot under these hoods. The only charging this thing ever got was from the DC270xp under the hood. I can't say any of this is the manufacturers fault, but at the same time I don't feel I was negligent nor did I abuse the battery. Just a real expensive lesson I guess. ToNasty
Expeditions are neer the passanger door. I doubt it's because of heat because I have a 2nd battery in the same spot in my silverado Quote ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
rockFord_Expedition
The battery is in the corner on the passenger side closest to the cab.
