Masterbasser
my experience with aeroports is limited I had a tcab box long ago (2005) for a single 15 inch beyond audio inhuman with re mt soft parts (fucking beat hard) it had 4- 4 inch aeroport and was about 7 cubic feet of box all other boxes i have had were slotted The sub i am lookin at now calls for 40 sq inch of port in a street bass setup at 32 hertz or 120 sq inches for an all out spl 65 hertz meter mover (im lookin at a tune around 35-37 hertz for this 18) id like to run aeroports as opposed to slotted again how many aeroports do i need and what size? what does each size of aeroport represent for sq inches of port? reedal
As for how many ports needed/size, depends on size of your box. What are the dimensions you have to work with? I'm no box designer, I could try, but maybe Joe x or someone else with the skill will pop in here. But they're going to need that info too. Dimensions and the power you'll be running the sub one. Just one 18? Masterbasser
im having a guy make me a box he used to compete in db drag and has a business of making boxes with a cnc, very good stuff my dimensions are unknown cuz it will be an odd shape but it will be about 6-7 cubic feet as for power going to run 5000 watts rms on it Kenwood excelon ddx795 3 370 amp CES alternators (audio side only) McLaren dome tweeters Crescendo 6.5 ultra neos NVX JAD800.4 4 PA x4 SPL 18's 4 Digital Designs m5's at .7 ohms each 2 K2 80 ah lithiums 3 group 31 agms Ledglow million color (12 piece) 2007 Yukon xl
MaxVolume
pi x r x r gives area of a circle to calculate PORT area, you'd find the circumference of the circle (2 x r x pi) and multiply the result by port length yeah science
reedal
two 5-inch aeros will get you 39^2in of port aeros, but the length of them inside of the enclosure will play into the tuning. Not knowing dimensions and it being an irregularly shaped enclosure, i am of no help at all. Sorry. Maybe someone else will chime in. Or you can try sending JoeX a PM, and he'll get back to you next time he's on SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=
Triticum Agricolam
pi x r x r gives area of a circle to calculate PORT area, you'd find the circumference of the circle (2 x r) and multiply the result by port length yeah science What? Masterbasser had it right. Circumference x length = inside surface area of the port, not useful for what we are doing. And 2 x R is diameter, not circumference. Krakin
As for how many ports needed/size, depends on size of your box. It does not depend on box size whatsoever other than does the panel you're putting the poets on have enough area to fit them. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
