SnowDrifter
So the split terminals are better for singer while the closed end are better for crimping. I proper crimp should have the wire smashed so tight that it's basically welded together. A good crimp would prevent solder from being able to drip down the wire making it pointless to solder a crimped wire. Copper is better then brass There I think I got all the info in one post. Split terminals are ONLY for soldering. Copper lugs can be either soldered or crimped. A proper crimp does cold-weld the wire and terminal together, making it one piece. In fact I still have a 1ft section of 0ga wire with crimped ends. Same piece I toss to someone and say "try to get it loose" when they doubt crimping. Same piece I hung from the ceiling with. Shows no signs of coming loose ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
alaskanzx5
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/rfts1 So terminals that are split/have a seam are for solder only? Rockford sells them as crimp style. So they technically should be soldered and not crimped though t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. SnowDrifter
You can't get a cold weld with dissimilar metals like that. You might be able to squeeze it but you won't make it one piece ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Broke_Audio_Addict
Go ahead try and crimp those terminals then show us the results. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Guest
So do you guys think the KnuKonceptz terminals are good? My only reasoning for not wanting to get get copper lugs is the fast oxidation.
alaskanzx5
I'm not trying to argue but those exact kids Rockford crimps on their 0 gauge kits. Would it make sense to solder those crimps because the type of lug? I'm not asking this for me, I'm asking this because I'm sure their are people out there that will say the whole my friends sisters boyfriends dad crimps split lugs. So I brought up the Rockford kits seeing as to how they crimp them. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
