Bump4life Posted December 29, 2014 Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 I am venturing into building 4th and 6th orders. with 4ths there is much more clear info. such as tuning to 40-50 hz and around 1 sealed : 2 ported ratio it seems. im sure everyone has their own thoughts here too. leave this for 6th orders please. with 6ths I feel the information is very conflicting. can people with experience, WITH EXPERIENCE not what you heard, chime in and shed some info on how to build. so far i have come up with 1:2 ratio for 6ths. with the smaller side being the rear side with low tuning. also what sq in of port is recommended and tunings and ratios. so for example. I was looking into building a 6th with a 1.25-1.5 rear size with 6-10 sq in of port tuned about 27-30. and a front about 2.5-3 with 25-30 sq in of port tuned to 54-60. am i on track with this? this was for a 10 inch woofer. or is it the other way around with the rear being larger but still tuned low and the front being smaller and still tuned high? please those with experience give rough numbers to ball park around. DylanBunch Posted December 30, 2014 Report Share Posted December 30, 2014 When I built mine I went with a rear chamber that was in the middle of the recommended ported specs and with the rear port area I went small (30" per sub) so I would have better cone control so I could play farther below tuning. With the front you just build to whatever ratio you want.
