russ7000 Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 I have build up around the battery terminals and need to clean them... I just got a sound system in stalled over the summer and needing to know which terminal do I take off first ? Because my amps are connected to the battery and I just want to make sure I dont blow a fuse .....
S15_Silvia Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Buildup as in the white/green stuff? I usually get water to just below boiling on the stove, scoop some in a coffee mug, and pour it right on the terminal in question. Gets rid of that crap in no time. 2016 Subaru BRZ | Sony XAV-AX100 | Rockford Fosgate DSM 4080 & DSM 40ix | On 6/6/2012 at 6:32 PM, 'LZTYBRN' said: 3. Guest Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 mix some baking soda with water and pour it on the terminal after its clean coat everything in dielectric grease to prevent that problem from happening again.

(remove them both while cleaning.) To put it back on, you first put on the positive terminal and then put on the negative terminal. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

SLYentist Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 they make battery terminal cleaning tools. they work real well. cola is ok, if you want everything to be sticky and the paint on the subframe below the battery to be eaten away. Cables and wires almost never fail; the terminations do.
S15_Silvia Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 I'm now thinking the best solution will be hot water with baking soda in it. No point in scraping away at it when the solution will do 90% of the work. 2016 Subaru BRZ | Sony XAV-AX100 | Rockford Fosgate DSM 4080 & DSM 40ix | On 6/6/2012 at 6:32 PM, 'LZTYBRN' said: 3.
