immeno Posted January 24, 2015 Report Posted January 24, 2015 You heard me, yes, i am currently 16. No, I did not build my enclosure, YES i am helping do the rest of the build. This is where the 4th order stands at currently. 3:1 ratio, tuned at 46hz, 8 sealed, 24 ported. The build is as is: Its a work in progress. 6 duracell G31s, this is what they look like 2 Banda Viking 7ks ( Ive chose banda over taramps because after doing some research, the trend seems to be that banda can take a tad more abuse, smaller footprint, same power, etc... 4 DSS Trident 15s from Direct Sound Solutions. Only woofer ever developed with 3 magnetic air gaps. (beefy things, weigh about 85 pounds) Singer 220a alternator, pic was right after installation. If i am forgetting anything important let me know, i will be updating the build log as things get added and stuff starts coming together, if anyone wants the pictures of the 4th order being assembled, i am all for uploading those too. I am new to this forum, as damien forced me to join. I am also a dealer for SounDrive RCA's. This is my first post in SMD. I am up for any suggestions in this forum, as i learn stuff new everyday. 4 DSS Trident 15s2 Taramps 8ks7 Duracell Batteries totalLots o' wireLots o' 4th orderTeam Audiomatic and Team SLC SOUNDRIVE
immeno Posted January 24, 2015 Author Report Posted January 24, 2015 I call this the "shit i didn't build, blow me" section of the build. Let me start off by saying Mike Smiley of Smiley audio did an AMAZING job at building this 4th order, it still needs to be 100% sealed off, when my woofers finally arrive and we do some testing is when that will happen. Here we go, prepare for an onslaught of pictures. Here is all of the wood laid out, screwed together and such. (I am sure mike hated his life by this point) Here goes the baffle: 3" thick, very solid. Poles on poles! These are 1 inch thick poles, which were later sanded down to be silver because im edgy like that. lol Further down the road: Mike did a great job, I myself am in high school, and right after school I go to work until 11, and then come home and sleep, and repeat 5 days a week. Didn't have time to build the enclosure, and on top of that, I wanted it done right. More pics to come as the build progresses. The woofers are 100% paid for. I am paying for amps and batteries as fast as I can. 4 DSS Trident 15s2 Taramps 8ks7 Duracell Batteries totalLots o' wireLots o' 4th orderTeam Audiomatic and Team SLC SOUNDRIVE

juan777 Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 I like all these higher ratio 4ths I'm seeing lately I wouldn't even consider a 4th that wasn't at least 2.5:1. Well 2:1 minimum if I had to but all builds I've seen/heard with a 3:1 or higher are beating hard, a bit peaky yes but I think 46Hz is a great tuning freq for this and those DSS subs!
