reviews and thoughts on a new vehicle

Brand new off the assembly line a big block would never touch 24 mpg.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Best chance a old big block would have to even get close to that is to put a 6 speed behind it.

sure could, get a 425 bigblock with fuel injection, change out heads, cold air intake and exhaust manifold and that might get you 20ish, really put money into it and you could get the high 20's and have more power to boot.

My 07 Silverado gets 17 on the freeway.

And just so you know. The 400 is a small block. :)

I was giving him some slack thinking he's talking about a 396 or a 402.

my friend has a gm 350 big block from the late 60's Pretty sure its a pontiac but im not 100% maybe a buick. Old caprices had 400 big blocks too. same block as cadillac used for their 368, and 425 and 472 and 500 cubic inch.

More power = more fuel.

not all the time, you can make the motor more efficient and use the same amount of fuel.

If you can magically make more power and make the car more efficient I think some car manufactures would like to talk to you.

less back pressure in your exhaust, cold air intake, air is more dense when its cold and more would get in at once and a non restrictive air filter for more flow, forced induction, higher compression, higher octane fuel.

Edit: forgot larger cam's for more valve action

i get 8 miles to a gallon if not less on my big block chevy. given i had 3.73 gears and a th400. with an overdrive it should get me in the 14 to 15 mile range.. by the way. Canada fuel is better then US. you can go longer on Canadian gasoline.. i doubt 24mpg though.. by the way. its a 400 so it should be around the 383 range in fuel or even a 6.0l
