battery isolator?

Recommended Posts

is anybody really using these anymore or are people just charging secondary batteries. i havent drove my car in a few days and it has been really cold so i had to jump my car off the other day but the next morning i had to do it again and it just started doing that. i have a kinetik hc2400 in the back with 0awg fused from front to back. was it just to cold or do i need this isolator ?

if battery isnt starting the car, it means it is going bad. get it on a good charger and see if that helps. only thing an isolator will do is make sure that the system is only drawing from the rear battery so you can play it till it dies and still start your car off the fron tbattery to get home. if it were me id just montor voltage on both bats and start the car periodically if playing for long with car off. also charge batteries every few weekends.

but sounds like your battery is going bad since it cant produce the amperage to start the car

HC2400 is a big battery. Not being able to start your car? Something's wrong.

Disconnect both batteries entirely, charge them individually, then check their resting voltage after sitting for a few days. You can do this one at a time so you still have a battery in your car FYI.

You also need to check for parasitic drain. Make sure EVERYTHING turns off when you leave the car. Dome lights, amps, under-hood light, relays, whatever
