Totalnoob
I was wondering what frequencies break in subs faster? The lower notes or higher notes. I was planning on slamming a bunch of songs in a certain frequency range to help my subs loosen up a lot because they are so stiff.
Krakin
Don't worry about it. The breaking period is meaningless for recreational use. I'm not going to say it doesn't exist, because it does, but it is safe to say for you to not worry in the least about it. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. Broke_Audio_Addict
Subs or any speaker break in with normal use, no reason to do anything special to break them in. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Cj Kumz
Best way to break in a sub imo is a 10hz tone full tilt with twice rated power while free-airing. Just do this twice a day for 30 mins and within a week you will be ready to go Vw Polo Pioneer Deh-6050UB Sundown Saz-3500d DD Audio 9500 15'' 5.5 cubic feet box with 10 inch port @ 38hz I live to hear the Bass drop!!! DubNDodge
If you don't catch all their sarcasm, don't do that. As krakin said, it'll naturally break in. Over time it'll play louder/lower. Know how to break them in the best? Play them full tilt and not worry about breaking them in.
