I have a 2000 cavalier with stock alt (105 amp) big three done 2 runs of oversized 1/0 1+1- a XS power d925 up front and a D2400 in the back. What amp is best suited for a setup like what I have. I will upgrade the alternator down the road. But not right now. Hoping for 1500-2500 wrms.

Get what your wanting and if the electrical drop is too much then add another battery to hold you over until you can get a proper h.o. alt.

You can keep on hoping, but anything I wouldn't do anything over 1500W, that's the maximum, if you also have a amp for the front stage I would keep it below 1200W.

Obviously you can put in any amp you want as long as you watch the voltage at all times.

Or you can buy a 3.5-4kw amp and run it at 4 ohm for now and once you upgrade the alternator you can run it at 1 ohm.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

105A x 14.4V = 1512W. You can't create power where there is none. There's only so much that can be done with what you have.

If you're just asking for efficient amps... all your class D's are going to be pretty similar. I know Kicker's KX amplifiers are touted as being best in class efficiency. Over 80%. Of course, you're going to pay for that. The 1600.1 is probably ~$700.

Rockford Fosgate's Prime amps are 90% efficient, and a R1200-1D is only $269...

K. Kirill probably had the best idea. Buy the big boy amp now and run it at 4 ohm.

The last thing you want is to buy a small amp now and have to rebuy a larger amp later when you buy the alternator.

Here's a novel idea, get the amp you want.

Set the gain proper, and turn the H/U sub out level low enough that your not dropping voltage to the point of damaging the amplifier until you can get the alt to support it.

Why waste the money on something you really do not want.
