Not your average OFC ? CCA question

Soundquest (stinger) used to make a hybrid 70% CCA with 30% ofc 1/0. I have 200ft run in my build. I need another 50ft. People say don't mix cca and ofc wire like ofc for pos and cca for neg. So for my extra 50ft do I buy ofc or cca? This is a legit ask since the hybrid wire no longer exists. Some of the extra 50ft would be used for pos and neg runs.

Im not an expert on this type stuff, but logic tells me that as long as your not bottle necking the flow of current by using cca "upstream" of ofc you should not have an issue. the reason you shouldnt mix cca and ofc is because obviously ofc flows current better, so by feeding an amp or whatever it is with big current that is then slowed down by the cca neg wire you have created a bottleneck, and a potential heat source. so again I am by NO MEANS and expert on wire, but I would say if your ofc is only on the neg wires then have at it.

-If its loud, fast, outrageous, or all of the above, chances are i'll think its awesome.

-"No way he's OCD." -said none of the people that know me ever.

As long as the wire you add can meet your needs, there shouldn't be a problem. Yes, there will be resistance differences between the two but those electrons will find their way. Don't dissect this too much.

Just make sure you have enough wire to carry the amperage you need, that simple bro.

I have more than enough already :) But just because I can I wanna add couple more connections. I just wanted to keep a hybrid wire all they way through.

I have ofc and cca mixed in my truck.

No issues that I noticed.

wires from each of the 3 alts to the front 2 batteries are ofc.

wires from the 2 front batteries to the rear 5 batteries are cca (18 runs).

wires from the 5 back batteries jumping each battery together are ofc, as well as wires from back batteries to amps is also ofc.

as rockford_expedition said, as long as your cca wiring exceeds the maximum current draw you have, you should be fine.

also if you stop and think about that you shouldn't mix ofc and cca wire together, then why are several companies doing just that with their "hybrid" wire? ;)

I know proper runs of either make it all good. I'm just anal about wanting it to be all hybrid and also wanted to see how many people are doing mixed runs like you are. I think runs like you have are educational to people who dont know better. Also another reason I started this thread :)

Sssshhhhhhh!!!!! I already have some CCA runs as over kill along with overkill hybrid.
