ShAdOwSpEcTrUm7 Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 I'm planning on running a Rockford T2500-1bdcp as well as a Sundown SAX-100.4 in my 08 Audi A4. Unfortunately there isn't a reliable aftermarket solution for my alternator (stock is 140 amps) and I want input regarding whether or not the following would be sufficient: -2/0 Big 3 -XS Power D4900 under hood -XS Power D7500 in rear with 1 run of 4/0 -Rockford 10 farad capacitor I'm not necessarily looking for voltage to be perfect, but I would like something solid and reliable with no major drop during daily driving on music at full tilt. Any other suggestions or should this work?
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Should be fine. You're going to have to put the Batts on a charger often though. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Kyblack76 Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Youll be fine..... my RF 2500bdcp,and RF 1000.4ad, with a yellow top up front, and 3100 in the rear did more than fine.... I did have a singer 225, but, i RARELY saw below 13 volt.... if ever.... stock denso unit (id have to think your audio has a very nice oem alt) kept me over battery rest, at rev, and into rest at idle..... hdorre Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 judging by my last 2 setups at idle, id expect to see high 12s at the lowest On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread
alaskanzx5 Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Is call that a good start. Worst case scenario you end up adding another battery. That cap is nice but imo for the money a 3rd batt would be better it a bigger cap bank for just a little more. Research caps on here there are a few that have built their own banks with great results. Maybe talk with them. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
ShAdOwSpEcTrUm7 Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 Thanks everyone for the input! I'm planning on running a Fi SP4 and some Alpine Type-R two-ways. Although the Sundown NS v3 seems appealing as well... As far as voltage drop, at what point would I need to worry about the safety of my equipment? Could I potentially get away with using a D3100 in the rear, or should I stick with the D7500?
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 Anything lower than 12 I turn it down some people play down to 9 without worrying about it. A d3100 would be fine too your reserve won't be as big though so your voltage will pull down faster. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
ShAdOwSpEcTrUm7 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 One more question, Could I get away with 1/0 wiring for the battery/big 3? I fear that anything bigger won't fit underneath the trim, and I don't want to pay the premium for larger wire if the difference is going to be negligible.
hdorre Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 yes stock is only 140A, and the run is insanely short i assume On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread
