Who is the best at designing boxes? I want to do a 6th order!

Recommended Posts

I don't have the time or ability to learn how design or experiment with a 6th order so I'd like to know who could get me a design made. Any links or info would be great!

What is your reasoning for wanting a 6th order bandpass? What do you hope to accomplish?

I've seen when they are done right that they have good output and wide bandwidth so I'm interested in making one, but I'm open to suggestions, I don't "need" a 6th if there was something that would work and was more simple than a 6th I'd happily go with that. I'm running a 4th right now and I like it but it only goes down to 30hz and I'd like more into the mid 20's.

If performance is your primary goal a well designed and executed ported box is almost certainly going to be your best bet.

I'm not trying to be a bandpass box hater, they certainly have their uses, but the majority of 6th order bandpass boxes I've seen are flawed designs. That's not to say some of them still don't get loud, they do, but I highly doubt they are performing up to their potential. I don't think they are functioning as they designer intended and I bet using the same space you could get better performance with a ported box.

What sort of bandwidth could I expect out of a well designed ported box? I've gotten used to my 4th being able to go from 30hz to 70hz and I'd hate to give up too much of the high end to get further into the 20's.

What subs are you using? How much power?

I'm no box design wizard but with my limited toying around with 6ths.. I'll say they are LOTS of fun :)
