aero ports and walls

I've noticed on just about every wall I see they all have a slot port. If aero ports are more efficient why people don't use those on wall builds?

its hard to find a aero port 20"+ in diameter and even harder to make them. and the ones you do find are insanely expensive.

I've seen a few done and they were ones to remember for sure

you didn't look hard enough...and plus like T said..it gets pretty expensive if you are trying to get one that big...

The slot can do the job just right as long as it's large enough.

Will four 6" aero's be enough for three 18's or is it sub dependant?

It's sub dependent but that's too low for almost any 3 18s at full excursion. Just to give you a rough idea for average drivers, about 2 6" ports per 18" sub.

I look at aeros I a. Few ways. You're eier a hard core street class competitor where you are limited in space. Or you're a noob who's too lazy to figure out how to build a slot ported box. Easy to cut a hole and stuff something in it. Most of the time slots add strength where an aero can never claim that

The efficiency difference is easily made up by making the slot port bigger.

Slot ports usually develop turbulence at lower air speeds than aeros, so you increase port area to keep airspeeds low, that along with wood thickness of their internal walls make them larger and as a result your box will be larger. A large enough slot port can have comparable performance to aero ports for most applications.
