ToNasty Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Just recently my 2007 silverado classic started to charge higher than normal 15.2. I have a dc270. Not very old. Took big 3 wiring out and still does the same. My buddy has a 2005 with th same alt. his has been doing this for a month. We can't figure out why. If this continues I will be tearing everything out and selling ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
ProMaxx316 Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Was that year PCM controlled? If not maybe the regulator in the alt going bad? Do you still have stock alt to see if the stock will have high voltage as well? maybe try putting a load see what happens. On a different note what you got for sale? If it's worth building, it's worth over building.
ToNasty Posted April 25, 2015 Author Report Posted April 25, 2015 My buddy put his stock back in. Didn't change. Yes both are PCM controled ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
ToNasty Posted April 25, 2015 Author Report Posted April 25, 2015 I left the truck running. It went back down to 13.1. But it's never gone that high before. ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
ToNasty Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 For everybody with PCM controlled alts in gm. 05+ Tahoe/silverado ect. When you do the big 3 you need to run your big 3 ground through the GBCM. It's a sensor ring right next to the battery that measures some kind of current to regulate the charging ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers

Jhunt94 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 One time when I was working on my alt, I had connected the lead that turns the alt on (the one that comes from the battery into the alt plug), then disconnected it, and the voltage shot up to 15.2. I don't know if that has anything to do with what is happening to yours though. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab.
