Kinda hard to see here, but I was able to slide this panel up to where it tucks into some tabs that stick out from the rail above the doors.  This way it cant possibly fall down.  Anyway, tuned in to see where you take this!

Looks good man. Love the stain!!

Yeah makes sense.  I need to pull my headliner down and see what it looks like under there. Did you deaden before the panel went up?

How does that effect the glue or whatever you use?

I was also thinking today, and I may raptor line the roof on the outside.  I understand a good thick layer of that beefs up the metal too.  I mean I have a lot of deadener, Vibraflex I think it’s the thicker stuff, but I’m worried that the panels won’t hold well if I deaden and then glue the panels up.  There isn’t a foil liner or anything on top of it. I don’t know.  New territory for me.  Still love the idea though.

I had some butyl liner on the roof and just PL'd over it. No problems at all. But again, my wood panels tuck into the metal tabs on the frame, so its held up there with more than glue. I believe others have done a wood roof over the matting/butyl also.

Haha yeah that’s serious stuff.  I don’t even work at the prison anymore haha.  I dont know what it was before our office but it is pretty drastic lol.

Yes, it does suck.  I’m sad I don’t have it in anymore but I’m anxious to get going again.

Jon is a good dude like that.  I tried to be as out of the way as I could.

My brother was planning to come to the bbq.  He’s been doing lots of videos and he wanted to do some stuff for that.  So I said come on.  I even gave him an out. Told him he could go hang out at the trailer and drink beer and smoke weed and he was there helping the whole time.  Love that dude!!

Like I said I am ANXIOUS to get started again.

Thanks. Unfortunately it’s all out now but I’m gonna start getting it back in soon.

Hell yes, let’s do it. I’m pretty sure I have the only 06 style black superduty with an 8” lift around this area so if you see me flag me down, even if it’s just to say what up!

Maybe we’ll be playing around the same time.  I’d like to be playing the. Anyway, that way I know I’ll be ready when the Sky High bbq comes in May.  I’ll be up there as far as I know.  But that’s the first weekend the kids are out of school so who knows!!  Lol. A lot can happen in a few months and the wife hasn’t said anything yet.

Sounds good man.  Where is the Sky High BBQ? In Nevada?  I was just watching the vids of last years BBQ...looked like fun.  IF, I can convince my wife to go on a road trip, that would be cool.  Even if its just to get out of town and meet new bassheads.  Can't wait for your new build bro! Bring it! ?

Yes it’s at his shop in Sparks Nevada. I may just go for the day myself. Depends on what the next couple of months bring for plans. We usually start our camping season around that time but nothing has been planned of yet.  It’s pretty cool.  Lots of good guys. If you get the chance you should go if even just for the day Saturday.

Ok so I think I’ve figured out where my batteries could go, at least until I learn to weld and build a frame rack for them to go under the truck.

That brings me to a question though.  Keeping in mind, it’s a demo vehicle not a numbers vehicle, does it matter where the batteries go in relation to the amps as long as they’re in the line somewhere?

Let me give you an example.  Say I build a buss bar mount in the cabin behind the rear seat, and I have my runs from the front alt/batteries going to those bars. Then I mount my secondary batteries (4x xp3000’s) in the bed of the truck.  The power cables from those go to the buss bars.  The amps hook to the buss bars.

My assumption would be as long as the rear battery cables are connected to the buss bars where the front cables connect, it’s essentially the same as if they ran directly to the rear batteries.

The objective would be that everything in the bed would be removable. Batteries, enclosure, sub amp. But I don’t want to loose all power for mids and highs amps when I remove it all.

The ultimate goal is obviously to get everything in the cabin as far as amps go, and the batteries mounted on the truck frame. Then all I’ll have to remove is the enclosure.  But for now, my plan is the build two battery racks next to the enclosure, one on each side to hold a pair each, and mount the 10k amp behind the enclosure, and that will at least get me playing as I work on it.

Thoughts?

If you have properly sized cable/bus and good connections, it doesnt matter where any of your equipment is.  Check voltage drop across all connections from the alternator after you finish your install.  Any location that has an abnormally large voltage drop, you need to either make the connection better or increase conductor size.

I recently cehcked voltage drop on my positive run to my rear bank and it was about 2% drop.  Doesnt sound bad, but I still have to add the ground side voltage drop to that for a grand total.  Needless to say, I have some connections that need sprucing up.
