Thank you. I thought the same thing too, but unfortunately it was too tight. I didn't want to have to hook up to a tree every time I need to remove it. The problem ended up being a square bottom enclosure and a slight rounded wheel well to bed floor. So sanding off that little edge made enough difference to keep it tight but easy to remove. I still need to put handles on it, so I have something to grab onto, but it's much easier to move now. I have a short one. I'll post it up when I'm done posting pics. I should've gotten more videos but I was too busy listening to it and adjusting and stuff. My brother is the one who got the only video I had. Steve Meade was there and I know he took some video of it, but I never did see it get posted. IMG_1402 by Scott Carver, on Flickr I kind of messed up on this. It wasn't something I thought about at the time, but now that there was wire in there it makes sense. These are set screw fuse holders as you can see, not lug holders. So the set screws are on the sides not on the top, because of the fuse screw. I staggered them so that I wouldn't have a problem getting to the set screws, but as I started running cables in them, it became apparent that it was still going to be an issue. Got the two mclaren amps in for mids and highs. Got the new Alpine head unit in, tuned it a bit, and then tuned it more the next day. But before we left that morning at 3am, it was bangin hard! It was shaking so bad the sliding window was acting like it was going to pop out. I'm either going to replace the whole window with a solid one, or I'll just silicone it shut. It doesn't work, the motor fried before I even had it. So I put some Sky High deadener on it. Actually two layers of it. This sealed up the gap between the port and the wall too. scooter99 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2018 Ok, lets talk about this stuff a little. So day of the BBQ, I was wondering about power. I have a 270a Singer alt, 2 XS Power D6500's up front, and the 4 XS Power XP3000's in back. I started the truck for the first couple of tuning attempts. After that I wanted to see what it would do on just battery. I basically played the rest of the day, not really demoing a ton but probably 8 - 12 in 6 hours. Never had to start the truck and never had any issues. It over exceeded my expectations. When we tuned it originally at 2:30am the previous night/morning, it was loud. Real loud. But we figure out my sweet spot was around 45hz songs. So originally I tried to play songs that were around there, but found the more and more I fine tuned it, the more I turned it up, the more it ate! I was playing stuff all over the place and it was getting down. I don't think the subs really ever got hot, I never smelled them anyway and I was trying to see what I could do. I've never been one to turn it all the way to the right, because I don't have the money to just replace a sub or an amp at a moments notice and since I don't compete it's not worth it to try. But for whatever reason I decided eff it lets see what it could do. I found the more I turned it up, the more the subs loved it, and the less my truck did. So there's definitely some deadening that needs to be done on the roof for sure and something has to be done with the back window. But again, happy as hell. It really played everything we asked it to and played it clean. I tried everything from lil wayne, e-40, to sam hunt, luke bryan, jason aldean, and my go to Dave Matthews and it just kept surprising me. I'm in love with the 6th order. Now, recall that when I started this off I had to do one thing. That was make sure the seat went back in, was solid, and was functional. IMG_1418 by Scott Carver, on Flickr Yes that's right. 2 + inches of battery terminal and cable. That 2 inches, stopped me from getting the seat to bolt back in. I was so disappointed. I almost cried. This in and of itself was a deal breaker. And that was why I ultimately had to tear it down. I originally thought I could just stand the batteries up, build a new rack, and they'd be fine. Probably was right, and I probably would still have it all in today. However, I ended up buying a tonneau cover for the bed. Well that had a rail system, and it actually hit the enclosure. scooter99 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2018 The other thing that kind of came back to bite me in the ass was the fasteners that I put through the enclosure to the front rail. In order to get to those, you have to take the top cover off. I didn't have a tonneau cover when I did that, and the purpose was security. In order to get to them, you're going to have to remove about 60 bolts from the top cover, take it off and unscrew the screws or take the subs. TOO much work, which was why I wanted to do it. Well with the cover, I can't get to the front bolts, to remove the cover, it's a real pain. So that was another reason to take it out. IMG_1459 by Scott Carver, on Flickr I had to slide the tonneau cover back to get to the front bolts to get the top panel off to get to the front screws. And it's amazing how quickly you can tear it down after it takes hours and hours and hours of work to put it all together. Sad really! I noticed the last couple of days that it didn't seem to put out the volume that it did at first. I know it had only been a week, but subs don't break in that way, and I couldn't even get it to full volume like before. So when I pulled the enclosure top, I noticed that all of the threaded inserts pulled up about 1/8" maybe more. So I'm guessing that the top was loose and I was loosing pressure from there. Now I have to figure out how to fix it though. My first thought is to epoxy them in. I'm not sure if it'll work first of all, and second if it does work, how long will it work. I need to keep the tops removable so I can get in there, but I can't keep loosing the air and having to fix it. Next issue is what I'm going to do to get the gear back installed. At this point, I'm planning an easy route to get it back in and playing again. Batteries have to go in the back behind the enclosure. That's staying unless I can figure out how to mount them under the truck somehow. I have to learn to weld then that may become a possibility. So The amp for now will go behind those. I have a lot of plans for the new build, but I don't when I'll be getting back to it. Hopefully soon.
