hidden from sight port????

Hey guys.. I kept asking new questions in my last post so I decided to make this one..

I am running into port length problems. I wanted to go with 2 4 inch ports but they protrude out from box which the guy I'm building for will not like. I was thinking of going to sealed..

so, I was thinking of hiding the port on the side of the box which was actually be hidden from sight. I was wondering if firing into the body panels of a car is OK?? I can achieve the proper port area and length for the tuning I was trying to achieve by doing it this way.

What are yall thoughts

So wait, like. A port on the bottom of the box? Just firing into a panel? Then it's sealed basically. Why do you want 2 4" ports.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

sry.. I guess I should clear up my description...

this is the box.. the port will go on the side.. the box sits down in the cargo area of a 95 Camaro.. the panel it will fire into will be cut out so its not firing directly into the plastic, but will be firing into the area behind the plastic so itll be able to breath fine..

Unless you have it tunneling through the body panel(s) and back out then I don't think it would have the outcome that you want. It would have to be the same size all the way through the panel to the cutout for the exit.

if I were to do that, that would change tuning... the rear panels in the Camaro have nothing behind them so I figured it would kinda act like a trunk enclosure but act better since there is no seat or rear deck for the air to go thru.. it only has to go around the paper thin plastic..

I don't think so. All you would be doing that way is porting it into the panel, and the sound would resonate in the panel and not so much in the cabin. Yeah the port can breathe... Into that panel, sealing it off from the cabin. If you want to do it that way, you have to make the port exit the panel as well. If it makes it longer and changes tuning, shorten the amount of port inside the enclosure to adjust.

if you look up a 95 Camaro t top trunk pictures, there are cutouts in the panels on the side to breath.. think that would be enough???

Couldn't see any cutouts in pictures. You have pictures of it? Cutouts that lead to the cabin? That would make it an extension of the port. It would resonate in the panel and then bottle neck through that cutout I believe, changing the tuning.

You are asking for big time rattles and other noises that way.

You'd be better off going sealed.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

You can always put an elbow to get the proper length.

Something like this

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.
