2nd power wire from alt to 2nd battery?

Recommended Posts

i have a 320 amp alternator with a yellow optima battery under the hood and a stinger Spv35 battery in the trunk..i did the big 3 upgrade but i was wondering if i would need to run a 2nd 1/0 gauge wire from the positive post of my alt to the 2nd battery because the two batteries are not connected to eachother..any suggestions or help would be much appreciated

If the two batteries aren't connected, then yes, run either a positive from the front battery to back or from the alt to the back battery. What's the use of the alt if it doesn't have any connection to the battery the amp(s) are on?

You can either connect the second battery straight to the alt or the front battery to back battery. Either way, won't make a difference. Unless it's 14/16V alt and battery. But if everything is 12V, it's more or less whatever makes it easier for you to run the shortest amount of wire. Just make sure your wire can support the 320A the alt puts out for the distance of the run you make, and don't forget to fuse

Wait, you have a battery just sitting in the car, without any connections?
