BASS14 Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Share Posted April 10, 2008 yes the gain is hardly turned up, it could possible be the glue. it smells really bad, i say turn down the HU a lil bit and see if it goes away. anyone know about how long it takes for the glue smell to go away? johnny imma have to smell that to see exactly what it is. i think ima just switch sides and see if it stays with that sub or with that side of the box!! BASS14 Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Share Posted April 10, 2008 i dont get it....they have the lvl 5 coils in em....and im only givin em 800rms so they shouldnt even be worked!! but the i still dont get y only one of em heats up?? they should heat up equally(both should get warm) but instead only one heats up and the other dont even feel like it is workin?!?! so i think ima just switch em and see if it stays with that sub....and then go from there. I started smelling a burning smell while playing some music way below the tuning of my box. Turned it down went to the back and placed a finger on the voicecoil, it was a little warm but no so hot that I couldn't hold my finger there. It was just excess glue being heated and the sub no longer smells like that. Turn it down a couple for now until you can do the "finger test." I'm not sure what the gain levels are on RF amps (6v-0.2v?) but doesn't your Eclipse head-unit have 5v pre-out so you wouldn't really need a lot of gain? I'm not sure what the gain levels are on RF amps (6v-0.2v?) but doesn't your Eclipse head-unit have 5v pre-out so you wouldn't really need a lot of gain? and i have the Eclipse CD5000 so it has the 8v pre-outs....and yea my gain is not turned up that high!! its only 1/4 turn up!
