Double up on the same grounds or run new ones?

Recommended Posts

03 tl still loses voltage only when driving / braking. It will sit and idle fine. So I have a new xs power d2400, Mechman 240, big 3, Pioneer 80prs. Took it to 2 different places and no one knows why it drops voltage when driving. I checked the grounds and all connections. But I'm thinking of adding additional grounds. I took the 2 stock 4 gauge off because of corrosion and just replaced it with 1/0.

most people say leave it and just add to it when doing a big three. I have new 4 gauge I can throw on, should I swap the stock back to 4 gauge and make new runs of 1/0 ? Or can I just double up on the same ground location with 4 gauge on top of the 1/0?

Where our you grounding too? Frame, shock tower, stock location? Our you u grinding down to bare metal? Use dielectric grease On all your connections.

Always leave stock grounds alone just add more grounds. Do the big 4

Voltage on honda's is controlled from the factory by the ELD, it can vary your charge voltage anywhere from 14.4 to 12.6 volts. There are ways to bypass it, however the easier way is to get a 1 wire turn on internally regulated alternator with a harness that allows it to keep the stock plug. You will most likely have a battery light from this but the voltage should be consistent.

I have seen a eld bypass video recently for Hondas. Seems like a fire hazard, plus that's a little out of my league as wiring is concerned. And no I didn't use and electrical grease on my connections. I did however wire brush down the bare shiny metal. This all started when I did my big 3, my voltage was always 14.4 no matter what. Since, with my new Mechman alternator and new XS Power Battery I can't hit 14.4 volts anymore. The highest I will go is 14.2. This is driving me nuts, I wish I would just get a check engine light or something to pinpoint the problem. I had better voltage with my stock 110 amp alternator and my old shitty battery. Who knows! Thanks for replying guys!

I bypassed it in my car and it was still being a bitch, talked to singer and he redid my alt. All I do is plu his harness into the stock one and then into the alt and I'm at 14.6/14.9 all day and 15.2 when its cold.
