Anyone else in Florida watching Erika?

Recommended Posts

Were waiting to see if and how much preparations need to be made. So far at home were pretty well stocked. At work we are getting ready today. All my techs are wanting to bug out early to go make preps at home. Still a lot of unknowns as to where and what extent she will become. Stay tuned...

Well it's only a tropical storm now, and going to be a CAT1 by landfall? That's not really that bad. I can't believe we don't build with nature in mind. In Okinawa, when I was there, I went through at least 15 typhoons, up to a direct hit from a CAT4 or two. Not really that much damage besides some overturned cars, power outages, and shingles ripped off. The most damage came from debris hitting things.

That said, it is what it is here, and you can only work with what you have. Good luck down there.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.

Looks like it's going to hit the east coast from what I saw on the news last night. Tampa is almost always spared because of the Gulf of Mexico. South Tampa ALWAYS gets flooded with any of the big storms that pass. I'm in North Tampa. No flood zone luckily. The hospital where I pull shifts is already talking about Team A,B,C for who is to come in, camp out at the hospital if need be for the duration of the storm.
