Lots of questions. Not sure if this is right forum.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I have a truck that I have now decided to fix up and keep. Music will not come till next year but I wanna go ahead and start on the outside (paint , trim, etc). I have never done anything like this and have many questions. My first is do I ask all my questions here or do I start a build log and ask there? Or do I asked here and just post results in build log? Anyways all opinions are greatly appreciated.

Still learning but have started gathering.

Well............

I guess I will start with a question. I have never done any buffing on a vehicle. I kind of want to spruce up the paint a little bit. Now me being a beginner should I be starting with a light cutting compound? And if so what do you guys use/and or recommend?

Still learning but have started gathering.

I cant remember the name of the compound I used but I know I got it at autozone. I would also recommend buffing by hand to start off instead with a buffer just to make sure you dont go through the clear.

I'm also starting to get into the detailing hobby, I would recommend you look up chemical guys videos in youtube.

For your questions I would start with a clay bar and a quick detail spray to de contaminate and give your a glassmall feel .. if that doesn't give you what you where looking for I would looking into a rubbing compound... it would help if you post pictures to see what kind of condition the paint is

Will do. I have that billion scratch look but I'll get some pics. My hood and roof will need to be repainted but I want to go ahead and start preserving what I got.
