Lakeshow94
Wiring up my smd vm1. Would there be any reason not to use a good ofc speaker wire vs "primary wire". Being that it is only a voltmeter that has a low draw I figured that would be fine. Just wanted to double check before I run the wire back to the amp. 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.

FourRings
You'll be fine. Agreed but If you dont want speaker wire and you dont want nasty wires all over either just take your red and black, tie them up or secure in a vice and then chuck the other end in a drill and slowly twist them together. Rich Schenk
I wired up both of my voltmeters using old speaker wire I had 12 or 14 gauge. Works fine doesn't draw a lot of power. I did similar thing and twisted wires looks a lot better just make sure u tape, heat shrink, or ziptie every coupler it will come unraveled. Lakeshow94
Awesome thanks for the input. It seemed like it would be fine but I wanted to run it by you guys first. That vm1 is so much more accurate than the other cheap meter I had. The old meter stated that I would drop to 12.4 whenever the bass hit, vm1 I barely drop below 13.5. Of course I double checked with a dmm at the battery/amp and its' correct 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.
Keagan-Z06
I used speaker wires, I think either 18 or 16. tboorn
yeah the wires coming off the VM-1 and are just sense wires not power wires that cause a draw of amperage. any distance and any gauge should be fine Fidelity Built to Last Team Sound Asleep 24Runner Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/196657-24runner-sleeper-system-lots-of-fi-neo-dd-focal-new-video-w-juicebox-lithium/ 2 x 12" Fi BTL N2 / 2 x 12" Fi BTL N3 2 DD M3b Maxwell 2.7V 3000F Supercapacitors Pioneer DEH-80prs Focal P165 V30 components Rockford Fosgate T-400.
la_01ninja
Should be fine. Personally I like to use primary wire but speaker wire works too.
