Can one build a system and still have usable trunk space?

If you're spending $450 on a single woofer, that sub will be plenty. Just up your budget on the amp by about $150 and you'll be golden.

If that woofer is let's say 1500w rms, would I want an amp that pushes the same at a 1ohm load, or a larger amp? I'm considering skar RP 1500-1D. Or would I need bigger? I'd like a single 12 just to keep ad much space in the trunk as possible. But I still want to be very low and loud

If the sub says it can take 1500wrms, get an amp that has been proven to do 1500wrms at a resistance that matches the wiring configurations of the woofer. Google for the amp you are interested in and include "dyno" after it or "meade" and see what pops up. You can get a good 2000wrms amp (I hate that I recommend this all the time, but I have one and love it) in the American Bass PH4000MD (for $200), it does rated @ 1 ohm. The VFL series amps are even sturdier and still in your budget. give them a look.

the ONLY drawback is, no spare tire. BUT i stay local most of the time. If i go somewhere out of town in the Lex, i put my donut in a plastic bag and bring my cordless impact with me. But yes, it can be done and this car is not a very big one either. (Lexus ISF if you don't know already)

Fantastic woofer that gets really low and fits in very small boxes. 1.5 cu ft for the 12 and 3 cu ft for the 15. 2000w rms.

The man himself chimes in...and gives you like the sweetest example of what can be done...lots of research, homework, and more research brother...car audio never seams to cease amazing me with what folks can render up and create! Lots of answers are in the minds of peeps on this forum...ask lots of questions, and don't mind the occasional asshole comment...

Wow! I never expected this much response, and let alone from Mr. Meade him self! Like I've stated before, I want a single 12 maybe 15, and I want to get loud AF. lol

I think that all that custom work is probably out of my budget range for now. (Unfortunately) It looks amazing, no doubt, but for someone who makes $11/hr it's a bit much. I'm leaning towards sundown's x 12, and running it at a 1ohm load. But I can be persuaded to buy a different woofer if the right item arises. Anyone had any experience with the above mentioned DSS?

just showing you can still have usable trunk space. Budget? I did all the work myself. Just drop your own favorite brand within your budget and do the same thing. Has nothing to do with brand choice.
