Frank H Posted December 20, 2015 Report Share Posted December 20, 2015 Can you recommend a 12" that can handle my soundqubed 4500 amp at 1 ohm? I am hoping to keep my same box, its 2.5 net and tuned to 33 with 40sqin port. The above is all you need to read but I will include some details here if you're curious as to why I am in this situation.. I started with a 2ohm stable Alpine m1005 (1K rms) amp.. bought a dual 4 Sundown x12. Realized I needed more power so I bought the 4500 to give the x12 around 2k at 2ohm. I am considering running a 2nd d4 x12 but am not ready to give up the whole trunk just yet. I built a box and amp/battery rack around the single 12 and want to stick with the design for some time before going to a bigger box. I am enjoying the bass with half my trunk space still available for daily use. Just want to use more of the amp..Ive considered the SQ HDC4 but its available in d1 so it would be ran at either 2ohm or .5 ohm. While I feel my electrical is up to the task of .5, I think the HDC4 is not. Any suggestions? He runs the HDC4s on the 4500 AMI customs suggests 2.5 cubes tuned to 34-39hertz with 17 square inch per cube for the current version of the hdc4. Your box ain't far off from his specs.
