Jman9112 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Report Posted January 29, 2016 Oddly enough, I'd rather have these than e series... These are beefier than what I've seen from the e Ballin' on a budget.
Triticum Agricolam Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Oddly enough, I'd rather have these than e series... These are beefier than what I've seen from the e There are lots of other choices, the E-series was a good recommendation but there are other equally well suited subs for what you want to do. Sounds to me like your current subs are the weak link in your system. You can spend a bunch of time/money messing around with different boxes and amps but you will still have the same weakest link. Jman9112 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Report Posted January 29, 2016 Has anyone heard about the nvx vcw 15? That was my other choice but I chose the 2 12s instead. Ballin' on a budget.
kirill007 Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Audiopipe Class D Monoblock Amplifier 3000W might be your best bet, its cheap, will do what you need, and its not that bad looking. NO, JUST NOOOOOOOO, not again. You'd be a lot better off buying a Fi car audio/ascendent audio/SSA/Sundown subwoofer. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
RainStryke Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 If you want something way louder than that JL sub, just go with a SoundQubed HDS300 series sub with D4 coils. Thats currently one of the better budget subs.
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 My HDC315s have a high Q. High Q causes you select a high Q for your box (or you get a negative number for Vb) and response becomes very peaky and not flat. Couple this with port gain and it will get loud. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
Alex Coyne Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 Oddly enough, I'd rather have these than e series... These are beefier than what I've seen from the e Thats your mistake then, you should of done more research since it's not even close (the Soundstream is a medicore at best subwoofer ) The R3 compared to the sundown E has poor sensitivity, weaker motor force, less xmax and a weaker voice coil (I don't know why you would rather have an inferior subwoofer, your quote makes no sense) Soundstream goes to the cheapest chinese build house and submits a cookie cutter design using the cheapest off the shelf part (hence a mediocre product) The Sundown uses custom tooling, has very good quality control, and is the product of hundreds of hours of research (The subwoofer in question, the sundown E just got it's third revision a few months ago, it underwent hundreds of hours of testing and modifying to make an already solid subwoofer even better). Two E series subs in a ported box (which is what i'm recommending to you) would make your soundstream subwoofers look like a childs toy (much better overall subwoofer and there designed to shine in ported enclosures). Not only would the output increase drastically but the sound quality would as well (not really a suprise, the sundown E is a better subwoofer in literally every single aspect). Not only will it give you what your looking for but it's in a realistic price range (selling your box/subs and using the money you would of spend on an amplifier on dual E series with a custom box is actually a realistic option price wise).
CleanSierra Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 I disagree with the E being better than the Soundstreams. They are 2.5" coils vs what is surely a 2" Chinese coil. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Jman9112 Posted January 30, 2016 Author Report Posted January 30, 2016 From what I can tell, the r3 is a very quality sub for its price. They hit hard and get low, I agree that they could use a better box, but I think its a combination of things that makes them sound less than perfect. Low power, mediocre box, ext. Cab truck, not best voltage (stock alt). But I do believe that these subs have alot of potential. Just gotta get them in the right enclosures with the right power and they will bang. Ballin' on a budget.
Alex Coyne Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 I disagree with the E being better than the Soundstreams. They are 2.5" coils vs what is surely a 2" Chinese coil. Soundstream is literally inferior on everything from the soft parts to the technical specs (Just because the voice coil is larger doesn't mean it's superior, everything about it is cheaper and lower quality) Not only that but the current E series subs are in fact 2.5" (not 2")
