There is only about 1/2" max of mounting surface to run fastener through, not to mention the suround is glued over the holes. image hosting 30 mb im concerned the surounds may be damaged by the fasteners. I'll do body filler all day every day, but this reinforced, fortified fucking kitty hair can kiss my balls.
rocking.that.eclipse Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 So what we have had to do so the screws don't catch is come from the back side (in the least sexual way) and drill out the surround from the holes I believe the largest screws that can fit without drilling out metal are #12s

If someone accidentally catches the surround and puts a hole in it, you are SOL, would warranty cover that? Seems like a trick to possibly sell more recone kits to me. Maybe its just my opinion but this is something that should be done by the manufacturer. Subwoofers should come ready to wire and drop in! Luckily i got all the hole done with no issues so far. When i tighten these bolts down, what is the possibility of the suround tearing at the edge of the bolts since the moving edge is so close? ChevyBoy95 Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Not a trick to sell recones dude, just use common sense. I hold my 85+ lb subs into a flat wall with spax #10 2" screws.
