ChevyBoy95
The issue I am having, well not really an issue since everything performs wonderfully, just a mechanical limitation due to it, is that my passenger side subs move further by not much but a noticeable amount than the driver side subs. The black arrow in the image is from the top looking down, and it is the subs with the black arrow that move farther. It isn't a huge issue, if I cant remedy it, no big deal, but was wondering if there is anything I could do to stop/limit it as far as a box mod. Broke_Audio_Addict
I've seen people use sono tube around the back of each driver to help with things like this, I believe it helps by giving them each their own small loading chamber. I could be wrong though because I'm not an enclosure designer and have limited knowledge on that. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. 3vil
The issue is because of that box design the subs aren't ask the same distance from the port. It's not big deal as long as the subs aren't unloading on you. To really fix I think you would need to build a new box with the port between the subs like in this wall pic... Kyblack76
Enclosures are so odd. When i had any limit issue with mine, it was the DRIVER SIDE TOP every time. Dude in idaho had issues with complete oppesite. Pass side bottom. Both of us with driver side ports. I did have that lil wonky angle at the top,and i just ignorantly (cuz i had no proof, or any other idea lol) blamed that. It was only when i put the most power to the wall ever. But, when i did, i could fold the surrounds over. Then, about 3 months of that, i blew a rear spider joint (spaced spider). I pulled that sub, and put in in the oppesite corner. Went to a show, put up my best score to date, and demoed all day. Got home, and pulled the broken spider sub out to give it a look, and it was the same (brakeage wise) But, then noticed that the driver in that same location had blown the glue joint on the rear spider again. Said fuck it and just beat on them for the next 2 years, and lowered power. Could be, but probably not the whole reason. I have built many boxes for my truck where the ports were on one side with the subs different distances away with no issues. This is the first time. (from a 6500 boards on each to 3800 on each) When mine is turned down really low, anything below 35, you can see driver top moving noticeably and the others look completely still, but when power is given it evens out and moves the same as the one below it while the passenger sides move noticeably more at full tilt. Quiet
The air behind those two subs are moving a little too easy all the way through the port. Gonna have to break that up. I would try adding a single 3/4 x 3 piece of mdf the length of the box like this. Maybe brace it with some angled mdf. you may lose some output, but probably gain it back by being able to volume up one more notch. Something to experiment with. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
