MrBassKid Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 Hello everybody on this SMD forum. Ok so i have a small car in fact its a lovely toyota startlet glanza. Now because of its great power to weight radio i don't want to add big subs and amps. If been reading on the car audio install website found on the net that you can bridge the channels of the rear, disconnect the back speakers and run the subwoofer of it. So use the front for the mids and highs and the bass for the rear outputs. Has this been done before, surely somebody might have tried this. Not sure whether or not to consider it because i really dont want to install a car amp if it can be done a different way. Or do you suggest is get some decent 6x9 to add more bass, its just that i dont want a big install this time but woudnt might a bit of thump.
mcfalcon Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 There a decent midbass speakers that would probably serve you better. Still learning but have started gathering.
jk13 Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 Might want to buy an extra head unit for the car if you're going to try and bridge the rear speaker outputs. Not many can do that. High percentage chance you'll let the smoke out. Check out the RF Freeload if you can't be bothered to run a power wire through the car. Otherwise the RF PBR amps (and many others) are tiny and will do what you want. Static drops are my bag.
SkarredSierra Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 If your wanting some thump id suggest one of rockfords mini amps. Kenwood also makes a mini monoblock. One of those with a 10 or pair of 8s should do nicely. I wouldnt run a subwoofer off the stock speaker outputs. If u cant install an aftermarket headunit id suggest a high to low converter off the rear speaker outputs.
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 I would go with free air 8s and a small amp. There are lots of heavy duty 6x9s available too. I would not try to bridge factory system.
