Kyblack76 Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 here is my take on this the hifonics have dirty signal so you have to set the gain lower.. that takes away the power from it. the cab amps did do rated but how long will they last even if wired properly? at $1300 might as well just get a big amp.. real96ss has a few dc9k for around $1300. my take is that if those cab amps start going you will be down $1300 if you need to replace them honestly, after having lots of budget amps in the past. i rather just save more and pay for a quality amp Agree. Or just get ready to swap boards fairly frequently. Cab amp showed some promise, but getting beat on daily for 4 years, ... welp. Well see. JScustoms05suburban Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 I appreciate the help and the heads up guys. General consensus seems to be to just go with 1 big Ole amp. So, hypothetical scenario, 500 amps of alt and 1,100 ah of Batts, that aught to support 1 dc 9k @ .33?? 3 350 amp 6 phase js alts 6 custom sundown 18s 4 ft1 tweets 8 8" pwx mids 18 g31 agm batts 2 crescendo 12k 1 american bass gt3200.4 1 jl slash 300/4 ~600 feet of 1/0 ofc knu
Miguels Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 i wouldnt run it below 1 ohm my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 i wouldnt run it below 1 ohm But wiring below 1 ohm gets teh bitches. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Clownrock95 Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Taking ratings for what they're worth, 6 1600's and 3 3600's both come out to 9.6k. Granted the hifonics amps are rated at 14.4 and the cab's would be wired under 1 ohm... So there would certainly be power differences at the end of the day, but minimal enough for me to just ignore hahaha My electrical is 3 250 amp alts and 18 g31 amg batteries, (super overkill, I know), and they would be powering 6 d1 18s,and I wanted to put somewhere between 1500-2000 to each. Ive though about doing 1 9k, but I'd have to wire to .33 daily, and I just don't want to do that lol dc makes a great product, but I don't trust much that low daily lol the cabs are rated dynoed at 4.3k at .5 so 6 of them would be over 24kw unless im missunderstanding something (i see that you have desided on one big fucker but im still curious as to where the mixup is)
Kyblack76 Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 They dyno runs are reactive loads. To see that, you have to wire to like negative 80. Also OP if your staying 12v and your all up on DC boards, I'd do the 10k. The 10k will poop all over the 9k at 12v. SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
Miguels Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 What he said. 10k over 9k Dc I's not the only company that sells a big boy amp either. magillaru Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 If you end up going with one big board, one HO alt that meets your needs and a decent battery bank (4-5 group 31s) will be perfect. Singer Alternators Team Asshole #anothershittysingerbuild
