Correct me if I'm wrong. But if I was to go that route and use six 12's I will only have the benefits of three subs since every pair of the subs wil be working together as one

When you go from a single sub to two in an isobaric configuration it doubles the power handling (since there is two subs) and it cuts your box size in half. It also cuts your efficiency in half though, so you need to run twice as much power to get the same output.

So six 12"s will be just as loud as three 12"s would have been on half the power but twice as big of a box.

Correct. So if you have 8 cubic feet of box then you could run four 12s sealed or 8 12s isobaric. You could run eight 10s sealed or sixteen tens isobaric. If you are worried about loosing efficiency then you should make a ported box instead of sealed and run the amount of power that the subs can handle.

If you're trying to get loud as fuck he isobaric is not the way to go. You have to realize that if you want loud you buy for it. You see all these Chevy trucks and SUVs and vans for a reason.

Two 15s ported will be louder than three 15s sealed and probably even louder than four 15s sealed. But only at the tuning frequency.

3 12" ported would fit nice firing forward into your cabin. ports up through the back dash..

if i was to with a clamshell design (non IB) how much will that decrease the size of the enclosure needed for the subs

Clam shell is one way to configure an isobaric setup. If one sub needs 1 cubic foot then 2 subs isobaric will need .5 cubic feet.
