Running 4 or more amps, what should i be using?

Recommended Posts

Never messed with line drivers or processor but soon I will be running another 4 channel and another 5k and Im wondering what I should be using to get decent voltage to the rca inputs on the amps. this would bring amp total up to 4 amps, but expandability to run a 5th amp would be nice

I am not looking to break the bank but to be honest I have no idea which brands I should even be looking at or what I should even be looking for. was out of car audio for about 8 years until last year.

It looks like a big fat splitter to me. Maybe use a line driver with it. If the Cock box had attenuators on the outputs then the whole system could be tweaked from one spot. I don't know if someone makes a DSP with enough channels for you.

What's the preout on your HU? If it's 4 or 5 volts then you can use a cockbox and not worry about the voltage loss.

But if you're looking for greater active control, then a DSP would be what you want. What exactly are you looking for besides capability of running 4-5 amps, with minimal voltage loss?

Why would you need a line driver?

Don't your amps have gain knobs specifically made for that purpose?

Don't worry about voltage, splitter=parallel wiring.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
