Masterbasser
I have 2 5k amps. currently i have 1 in the vehicle on 2 18s at .8 ohms. how much power would i gain if i added the second amp and ran each amp at 1.6 ohms? the amps cannot be strapped the internals are different. different models of the same amp would it be worth trying 2nd amp at this coil configuration? RooTxBeeR
If they internals are different then I don't think it is a good idea to use them together. Only time you should do that is when everything physical is 100% the same so you can get equal power from the two of them. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. ShadeTreeMechanic
There is only one way to find out. If they are gain matched it shouldn't be a problem. By running at .16 instead of .8 it will take some load off of the amps and increase the headroom. Two amps at reduced power would increase the power supply section capacity per watt which would help them run cooler and have better sound quality. All this would also help it get louder. I say go for it. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
RooTxBeeR
I forgot to mention other parts other than power. Damping factor is one, it's late and I am tired and can't think of others that would factor in by 2 different amp designs.
