Karkov
Basically my.quesrion is , is it worth going optical from the hu to my processor? Even though I still have rcas from the processor to the amps In for that answer as well. Do your amps have potential for optical or not, and is that why you're gonna use RCA"s from processor to amps? (maybe your amps idk) Is your goal clarity? I use optical in my house and can't tell a difference... optical half and not the other half 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. White Lightning
If your head unit has an optical output ... wouldn't hurt to use it. Personally don't know if there would be a noticeable difference. Ain't enough footage of cable to justify an optical use. Fire that thing up and give us a review. Wicks
I've tried every type of RCA from my HU to my trunk and always had some type of noise or alternator whine. Switched to optical and it's much better and a hell of a lot easier to run then multiple RCAs. Of course it all depends on whether you have noise to start with...if not I wouldn't mess with it in a car environment unless you're super SQ oriented. tdsa23
I use optical in my house and don't notice any diff in sound, but I think it might help with engine noise. White Lightning
Engine noise is most likely a bad ground. Shouldn't have anything to do with RCA cables. However, RCA cables will amplify engine noise coming from your headunit ... so make sure your grounds are correct. ToNasty
I have never had engine noise with this hu. And I just upgraded from the cheap rf rcas to the sundown rcas. But if there isn't an audible dofferance with that optical then I see no reason in even doing it. Thanks guys ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
Team Bassick - Kimo
Yeah casual listening not a lot of difference. I know for me going balanced in and optical cleaned up a shit load of noise in my car. Its funny bcause my GPS voice is RCA back and when the GPS comes on I am reminded how bad the car was when I got it.
