d-nice88 Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 Trying to wire to half ohm with 2 dusl 1ohm subs. (Fi) i was wondering if i can wire one in + to + - to - then the other one in series. Then wire them together + to + - to - . When i just wired them that way my multimeter read .5 ohms. Will it work out that way to achieve .5 ohm ?
Efreakingt Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 2 dual 1 ohms subs wire to .25, 1 or 4. Take your multimeter set to ohms and touch the probes together, whatever it reads this way is the amount off from 0 your meter actually reads. Subtract that number from whatever readings you get to know the true readings.

You see what im doing and already did just to see if i could is wire one positive to positive negative to negative. Then wire the other positve to negative positive to negative. Ok now i wired them both together positve to positive and negative to negative and got a .5 .6 ohm reading. That would not work when hooked up to a amp?
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 What ever you do to one sub you would want to do to the other. If you don't then the power from the amp won't divide evenly to all 4 voice coils. You can either do all coils in parallel for .25 ohms. All coils in series for 4 ohms. Or series parallel for 1 ohm. Series parallel would be like putting the two coils on each sub in series. Then hook the two subs in parallel. Makes sense i was just curious since i seen it read .5 .6 ohms and i checked all my coils before hand and they all read 1.0 ohm. Fi make some solid subs. I wonder if i could get away with .25 ohms. You kno including box rise to bump me up maybe .8 ohms or maybe 1. I was just gona test it out
