sinister317
Does anyone else have a issue with these running hot. I got it running at 1ohm and it set really close to amp on 4ga wiring. Checked voltage at amp and at 3/4 volume it's getting a solid 13.9 on a -5db 50hz tone. Subs are 2 power T0 12s.

Bayuk89
^^^ loose grounds or power wire ??? Clipping/distorted signal ??? also you would tune with a 40Hz -5dB tone, not 50 hz tone.... are u using the DMM method ? Tuning buy ear ? O-scope ? DD-1 ? I could see possibilies to why it may be running hot... Its a good idea to do the "big 3" even if you dont have an HO alternator, your strengthing your ground path. sinister317
Yes I was using dmm method. I will use a -5db 40hz test tone and see if it helps. I'm sure there was no clipping but I'll double check.

I'm sure there was no clipping but I'll double check. there is no way your gains are set correctly right now and there is no way for you to know if you are clipping or not using the "dmm method". You will have the same results if you close your eyes and guess the gains. That being said, the amp is getting hot because that's what amps do. That is what heat sinks do. If it is getting TOO hot you may want to look into it's placement and how hot it is where it is placed. With your gains set wrong, which they for sure are, you could be heating it up a lot faster than need be though. Set the gains right, make sure the amp has plenty of clearance and if you think the environment is a really hot one (like a trunk) you may want to consider some fans. But first set the gains correctly. Your DMM cannot do that. All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Ron36
If heat is an issue I'd look for an amp with a built in fan plus making a outside fan station for cooling. 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery
