Guest
how does JL specs say they will not run hot? I thought subs always get warm especially if you are playing close to their rms limits
boometro
Looks right to me, what ohm load were you trying to accomplish or think is right/wrong? they are SVC They run hot-- the gain has been set properly with the DD1 - the max volume is 38 as it is tuned to that. When I run the system on 26-29 I can usually smell the wood from the box. The subs cone feel a little warm as well. Everything talked about is connected via 8 gauge wire. Ive been afraid to go above 30 as I fear they will blow. I had a pair before this of same subs but they blew within 4 months. check the gain. just because you used a dd1 does not mean its set correctly. it may be a very good starting point but it is not ALWAYS correct. im not trying to knock a tuning tool but it COULD be incorrect. Daniel Francis Sheppard
how does JL specs say they will not run hot? ShadeTreeMechanic
Distortion kills, clipping kills faster. Even with the dd1 you can get distortion because alot of music comes from the recording studio with distortion to begin with. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
White Lightning
According to the diagram, shouldn't the amplifier be bridged ??? Or does it bridge internally ??? Looks like it's two ohms per side and not one ohm bridged mono ... or am I looking at it wrong ??? ShadeTreeMechanic
Two svc 4 ohm in parallel would be 2 ohm wired this way on a 1 channel amp. If you are trying to get the 1 ohm rated power at 2 ohms you will be kicking its butt for sure. No wonder it runs hot. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
White Lightning
I was wrong looking at it closer and readimg. Single voice coils ... I'm a dumb ass lol. Two ohm load if the amplifier was bridged. Kenwood / HELIX / Linear Power (For The Love Of Music) / Brutal Sounds / OverKill Electric Co Questions About Sound Quality ?? Try Here ...
