grundle Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Question on how you would wire the amp / speakers with regards to crossover and setup. I want the best sounding general system and I think they have it wired right now using the passive crossovers that came with the speakers. My though is it should be that the crossover should be used at the 360.3 and the amps should power (mids) (tweets) separately as the passive tweets just eat power and I could get more bang and SQ for my buck wiring / configuring it properly. I have the '14 Jeep OEM 8.4 inch Nav upgrade Rockford 360.3 JL Audio mono amp powering couple 12 JL Subs JL Audio 4 ch amp powering 2 pairs of 6.5 inch components ( one in each door tweet and woofer together ) RF Punch 4ch Amp powering 2 pairs of tweets in the 4 pillars any input would be greatly appreciated.
bigmizzle99 Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 If you have a 360.3, then use it for active crossovers, not the passive ones. Have you looked for the crossovers yet? Camaro SS Build Altima build 2.0 Altima build 1.0
grundle Posted October 14, 2016 Author Report Posted October 14, 2016 its less effort to use the crossovers that came with the speakers and thats what the installer did used the 360.3 for its oem integration and didnt leverage the crossovers. im still unclear on the wiring .. i guess maybe im unsure if i have enough channels to cover w hat i need 8 tweets 4 mids - subs and sub amp dont change as that is being handled by the 360
3vil Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 8 fucking tweets? My ears hurt just reading that. Yes you're losing a little power by running the passive xover. The 360.3 COULD give you more control over the sound by utilizing the xovers, eq, and time alignment that it features. You can also really Erin the SQ if you don't know what to do. But if you are happy with the sound the way it is then just let it wang man.
jcarter1885 Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Too many tweeters. Should of just put components mids in the doors and component tweeters in the pillars. Soccerballzs Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Try to keep your tweeters up front. A pillars or dash mount. I would look at getting a seperate Punch 500 for sub. grundle Posted October 14, 2016 Author Report Posted October 14, 2016 so they installed the system and did not put the tweets in the pillars .. they put them in the door. They left the oem tweets in the pillars that where powered and i felt they where bringing down the SQ. I added on a small punch amp and put tweets in the pillars to add to the "quality" of the system. I planned on building up the system by adding more mids to catch up on the abundance of highs.
bcbrassard Posted October 15, 2016 Report Posted October 15, 2016 Its your build but not many are going to say its a good thing to have 8 tweeters to your system even if you plan on add more mids later. There's a solid platform to build off of and then there's too much. And i think you have started out with too much, plus you have equipment that is not being utilized properly. Fix the 360 to active and tuned front stage properly with gains set correct. Good luck
