2 CT Sounds 8" Meso Subwoofers - "24 Layer" Ported box build - Second Skin Spectrum Coated! Finished! pics/video page 6

Steve, were you considering that box for something specific or a design experiement? I had a friend who ran a cabinet shop for a few years. He did some layering work with cabinets and the flexibility was VERY interesting. The finished product can have crazy contours and end up looking like one solid molded piece when all the finishing was done. Very interesting. You certainly got my attention.

Thats one heck of a piece to have as a calling card. :good:

LOVE the integrated port into the stacked pieces!

Cool concept Steve.

...and then of course, the plexi and LEDs as the frosting on the top! :good:

hey steve I love the design. I wanna make a stacked box for my truck. I seen others do a staggered design on the interior to prevent standing waves. Dis you even have an issue like that? Is it a big enough difference to want to do it?

i have no idea what you are talking about. I see no reason for there to be "standing waves" in this box. Thanks though!

0:38.

While I was trying to find information about building a stacked box I found this video.

I know what a standing wave is. It's not a problem with my box. The box in that video is SEALED, mine is ported. Regardless, as nice as that box (in the video) is, there is no way what they did will make a noticeable difference in sound from any other properly built sealed box without all those curves.

For a ported box like mine i would much rather NOT have all those wavy (staggered) pieces. I prefer smooth airflow in and out of my port.

That's just gross. The amount of flexibility that Cnc gives is just insane. With cncs and 3D printers it's a great time to be a fabricator
