8ten8
I have one dash mounted volt meter wired directly to the sub amp. If I had two volt meters, the other would be wired to the primary battery. You may be able to calibrate your volt meter using a digital multimeter. Try opening the lid of your volt meter and see if there's a small dial that can be turned left and right. That should allow you to set your volt meter to the digital multimeter reading. You tube might have some info too
MrSkippyJ
it will read the voltage at your switch. you probably are more interested in the voltage at your amps though right? reedal
My SMD VM-1 is connected to my 12v constant for my amp... RedFred
My voltmeter is a cheap $0.99 Chinese one off eBay. I have it hooked up to the power and ground on my master amp. It reads about 0.4v lower than actual DMM readings, and I haven't checked to see if I can calibrate it.
Wannabe
If I run it off my amp it will always be on won't it ? And the switch is ran straight to the battery so once I turn it on o should read my voltage at the battery or should I just wire it to my sub amp and let it be on all the time this is my first build, i have been waiting 4-5 years to have this done 95 chevy 2 door tahoe 5.7 Xs power d3400 Singer 275amp alternator Big 3 - all Knukonceptz Kolossus Fleks 0ga/ knu Fuses an holders Sundown SAE-1500d Mbquart onyx OA800.4 Stinger 4400 series RCAs and stinger volt meter Fi Q NEO 18, 7.5 cubes tuned 32hz Pioneer MVH-X690BS H/U Kicker CSS 6.5 comp sets in front doors Kicker KSC 4x10 coaxials in rear GTMAT and FAT MAT deadner Xenon 10k Blue HIDs
Jhunt94
Is there not 3 leads on the voltmeter? Power, Ground, Acc? if not you could run a small wire from the power terminal, or distribution point going to the amplifier, and then place a switch to turn the voltmeter on and off. Mine, like everyone else is tied directly to the feed going to my amps. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. Wannabe
Can I run a wire from the power on my amp and the ground on my amp to the switch that is ran to the battery this is my first build, i have been waiting 4-5 years to have this done 95 chevy 2 door tahoe 5.7 Xs power d3400 Singer 275amp alternator Big 3 - all Knukonceptz Kolossus Fleks 0ga/ knu Fuses an holders Sundown SAE-1500d Mbquart onyx OA800.4 Stinger 4400 series RCAs and stinger volt meter Fi Q NEO 18, 7.5 cubes tuned 32hz Pioneer MVH-X690BS H/U Kicker CSS 6.5 comp sets in front doors Kicker KSC 4x10 coaxials in rear GTMAT and FAT MAT deadner Xenon 10k Blue HIDs
Mitchaford
I have mine setup where the power is spliced to a switch that cuts the power on/off so it's not always on. The power is going to a battery bank and its also grounded to the bank. It's 0.1 lower than actual resting, full tilt, and idle. I haven't measured what it is at the amp because I know for a fact my amp voltage is higher than my bank. I think it depends on the meter itself also but mine was $7 on ebay... 2008 VW Jetta Team Fi 12 CT 4000.1 CT 125.4 PWX 6.5 80 PRS EB Flex 2/0 Second Skin ^^^ Build ^^^
Wannabe
How it is now i have a 16ga wire from positive on my battery ran to the positive on a 30amp switch and I have the volt meter wired to the back along with my remote turn ons for my amp.. Will this give me a good reading of voltage at my battery? idk why I need the voltage at my amp, if the voltage at my battery is low means the voltage at my amp is low so I could just leave it this way??? this is my first build, i have been waiting 4-5 years to have this done 95 chevy 2 door tahoe 5.7 Xs power d3400 Singer 275amp alternator Big 3 - all Knukonceptz Kolossus Fleks 0ga/ knu Fuses an holders Sundown SAE-1500d Mbquart onyx OA800.4 Stinger 4400 series RCAs and stinger volt meter Fi Q NEO 18, 7.5 cubes tuned 32hz Pioneer MVH-X690BS H/U Kicker CSS 6.5 comp sets in front doors Kicker KSC 4x10 coaxials in rear GTMAT and FAT MAT deadner Xenon 10k Blue HIDs
