Is 4gauge good enough to run 2 amps

Recommended Posts

So here is my question, I have ofc 4 gauge ran from the front to my back battery. Right now I only have 1 -1000 watt mono block for my sub. I want to power my door speakers with a 4 channel amp. Should I run 0 gauge to a distro block and continue 0 to my power cell and use the 4 gauge for my door speaker amp. Or should I just do another run of 4 gauge to my second amp.

Depending on the fuse ratings of the 2 combined amps you could use 4 gauge. I use ofc 4 gauge for 2 amps. The combined fuses of both amps are only 130 amps at most. Im sure i only pull around 90 to 100.

if you ever plan on upgrading i would run a 0 guage now. 4 guage is normally only rated at 150 amps and thats over sized wire like knukoncepts.. if your wire is cca then you need to upgrade your wire

Yes it's skyhigh ofc, my plan is to put in a distro block before my rear battery and branch off to the door speaker amp. If anyone has a better idea I'm all ears, thanks

That seems rather pointless imo when you can just attach a second 4awg cable for the other amp directly to the battery.

Realistically you can put  as many ring terminals with wires connected to the battery that you can fit as long as your able to screw the allen bolt down tightly... Or just buy battery blocks to bolt onto the battery then connect the wires to that.
