Whats up guys i have a polaris ranger crew   4 seater side by side    i built a box for 1 digital design 600 series 15"    its right at 4.5 cubic foot with port and woofer displacement   tuned to 40hz   it sounds good at the higher frequencys but the woofer begins to just fade awat with anything below about 45hz     ive tried messing around with the port sizes   but i think im leaning now towards a 4th or 6th order bandpass      i cannot find much information on  bandpass    can someone lead me in the right direction please 

 

 

If  you dont recommend  a bandpass could you recommend a  hz to tune it to    subwoffer recommended volume is 3-5 cf   

the box can be as wide as 48" and as deep as 18"   and as tall as about 20" 

its hard to make bass out doors i know this  the current set up carries very well and sounds good from about 25' away but up close it doesnt have the thump i think it should    

as of right now i have a jl 1000/5 amplifer running the sub and the 4-7.7 tower speakers   the towers are extremely loud and clear   i need bass that will keep up with them

What do you mean you tried changing port size? Adding length to the port will lower tuning which is all you need to do but it needs to be external since adding it internally will also lower net volume which raises tuning.

i re calculated  the  airspace per each port i tried    i tried 37,38,40,42    and all of them would  sounded good above 50hz   but none sounded good at  anything below 40

So you made the box bigger every time you changed ports?  That would be the only way to effectively change tuning.

 

If you cant get a bass reflex box to work then you will not be successful with a bandpass box.

i built a entirely new box the other night   ,  40hz   little smaller port area vs what i had before     works very well,   did a little smaller airspace than the previous set up    i think the original box  was a little to big  

i still would like to try a  band pass i have nothing to loose if it doesnt work   i have birch and all the other materials i need on hand    making bass outdoors is not as easy as it is in car with cabin space,   if it takes 10 boxes then thats what it takes
