I'm not all THAT old....but....

I am 26 (born in August 1981)

I STARTED working on my older brother's 1st car (1990 Hyundai Sonata) when I was 12, 13, 14yo as I picked more and more tools with "my allowence", 1st job $$$, and what I could scrape together.

I can remember Soundstream Reference series (My 1st amp was a ref604...Still have 2-3 Ref 500's), Kicker and the ROUND solobarics (made by credence... yea baby!) and When Fosgate POWER series with the giant chrome mags and HUGE 2" vent in the mag/pole piece gave me a BOOOOOONER!...ALL RUN off some 250m^2s and 500m's were... the best shit EVER.

CA&E was the bible...and AS&E was porn.

Lanzar "came out" w/ OptiDrive stuff, and '93 Civic cpe's were demo cars.

Kick pods were like OMG! INSANITY.

x2 on WALLS everywhere.

And if you dint have 6+ woofers you were a Fehg...or just not doin anywhere NEAR big.

Man I gotta go break open some old Mags now.

Thnx for startin a good thread I can't believe I never dove in this one B4.

All the more reason to listen when the old folk drop knowledge.

Always a chance to learn somthin.

dude ty ty ty ty. ive got 3 years worth of ca&e in my closet i forgot all about.....ty mang B)

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

I find it funny that with the exception of the OG Zapco gear i recognise all the gear and remember all those names and their capabilities............God I either know alot for 23 or just been reading too damn much and had too many friends with systems?

i had their big ass purple amp and thought it was the shit when i was 15 back in 93....

i messed with stuff like sherwood 240's on mtx terminators, the punch woofers that had their old logo on tha dustcap, and stillwaters kicker comp woofers written in gold....

i remember my very first 15's, called MT CALIFORNIA's...lol

yes!! Actually some of the Bumpers were pretty good. I had a pair of 15's for awhile. Most Bumper Industries subs were just renamed professional sound and PA speakers.

Don't forget about PPI's Flat Piston Subwoofers and Art series amps. It was those subs that truley got me into the hobby. Even though I never owned them I use to go to the shop near my house that sold them all the time just so I could go into the demo room and hear them. The guy had like 4 of them in a box in a tiny room and the bass was so amazing. Man I wish I could find those subs.

i loved the CA&E buyer guides.

I like Auto Sound & Security better. I thought their tech article had better pictures and more relistic installs for me. I wasn't interested in Jag's and all that fancy nav. stuff when i was 20 years old. Loved the Fishman builds. At that time you couldn't see that stuff anywhere and shops around weren't doing it, or at least weren't showing how they did it.
