violntshags
Hey peeps, I’m installing a 12k amp for two 18’s at 1 ohm. Have no clue what size fuse I should use off the battery. I’ve been reading it should be what the amp draw is. That would make it like a 650 amp fuse.. any help would be appreciated
SnowDrifter
If you're serious... 300 amps for 0ga OFC is recommended. I'm a little concerned about "the battery" bit though. You running lithium or something? ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Joshdashef
@violntshags What is the amp model? If it is a 12k amp it likely has multiple pos/neg inputs I'd hope, so you could split up the load between runs, so two runs of 1/0 ofc would get you about 600 A total (300 per). The manufacturer will have specifications on what size fuse to use, so I'd suggest running what that calls for. If it is 650 A then you may need to use 2/0 ofc which can hold about 400 A according to the post I always refer to: SMD Tool Map (2022): https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/220267-smd-tool-map-2022/ My Port Size Calculator (in progress): https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/217087-port-size-calculator-in-progress/ Common Port Walls for a Slot Port: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/217076-common-port-walls-why-it-matters-to-your-box/?tab=comments#comment-3240313
