CommonSyns
Do crossovers need to be near the speakers or can I put the crossover in the back with my amps? I drive a Jeep Wrangler TJ. mothra
anywhere you want, just keep them away from any power wires. if any electromagnetic field is near those crossovers, you'll have noise in your system. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know

CommonSyns
Alright thank you for both replying. I thought that crossovers had to be near the speakers for them to work optimally. MrSkippyJ
It is possible with a combination of long distance and small gauge wire to actually have an affect on the impedance of the speaker and start changing crossover frequencies. Pretty simple to avoid with appropriate gauge wire though. I haven't really checked though so this might be one of those things that isn't an issue in cars since we don't really have long runs of wire. Unlike a house (or outdoor) setting where you can easily have a 50+ foot run from source to speaker.
