Adding some bass

Hey guys,hope all is well

I just brought a Nissan tiida and am thinking about adding a little bass. My mids are 4 6 1/2 in the doors,i believe like 50rms each and my electrical is good. And i just brought an alpine MRP-M500.1 to power the sub and i lovee a 35hz tune.

My question is,whats a good quality, budget sub around 500-600rms that would work for this? I listen different types of music and also, should i go with a single 10" or single 12".

Thanks in advance

What is your budget? We can help you better if we had a number. Budget to me might be different than budget to you.

As far as size, that's not a huge factor. In the right enclosure, either size will do what you want it to. It's all about the enclosure. Now, the space that you're willing to give up will dictate the size more. Not enough space for an optimum enclosure for a 12? Then I would go with a 10. Like I said, it's all about putting that sub in the perfect enclosure for the amount of power you want to give it.

Get a single dc sounds level 2 12 dual 4 ohm straight from dc sounds for 150 bucks.  They handle 600 rms.

Suggested Sealed .75³ ft

Suggested Ported 1.25³ ft

ps....you can go a bit bigger than these box sizes.

My budget is $200,maybe a bit more. My concern is weight, can't be to heavy, and i need some room in my trunk. But 500 to 600rms is my limit, any recommendation? Am looking into a 35hz tune daily, but on the loud deep side,a good slot port box design is greatly appreciated

As far as a design goes, you're going to have to pick a sub first, then ask someone else nicely for a design. I have no idea how to design a box. Sorry dude.

If weight and space is a huge factor, then a 10 is the way to go. If playing deep is the most important, go with a 12, but in the right enclosure, the 10 should dig plenty low.

I personally would tune the box lower, like maybe 32-28 hz (depending on the woofer). It'll play the low notes with more authority and have a better bandwidth.

You've got a couple good options to choose from. All these are 10's, but if you decide on 12's, all these have 12 inch counterparts

You don't have to buy them from these websites, this is just where I know to find them. In my opinion, you'd be happy with any one of these. All are very solid subs!

In my opinion, if you look at the Fs in the T/S parameters of a sub, the lower the Fs, the better it can do on the low notes provided it's in the proper enclosure. Also, when you look at the QTS rating in the T/S parameters, if it's say below .4, that sub usually does better in a ported enclosure, and .4 to say .6 does better in a sealed enclosure. That's not to say a sub with a QTS of .5 will sound like crap in a ported box. It'll do just fine. It's just a little better suited for a sealed enclosure is all.

I guess am settling with the 10" then. Bro,thanks to much for the advice. When i make the purchase i will ask for a box design
